Look at this lot, it’s Christmas and they’re excited. Who can blame them.

But it’s not Christmas that’s got them ready to burst with joy, it’s Tong Garden Centre. Did you know that as well as being a great place to pick up a hoe, shovel or rake; Tong have a restaurant bursting with indulgent food and more plants than Kew Gardens. There is something for everyone and a great family day out.

On first inspection you could be forgiven for mistaking our cameraman James for blocking the path for a zimmer pushing Soak.com customer. Of course james would never do that intentionally, this is infact a bespoke wheelchair / gimbal setup for achieving Hollywood smooth 8K tracking shots on RED.

Unfortunately the subject of this particular shot is for our eyes only so for now you’ll have to make do with this spectacular teaser.

At this time of year you’ll often hear people talking about the weather, this isn’t a phenomenon unique to the autumnal season but the vocabulary used tends to lend itself to colder and wetter words. It’s also a great time of year to talk about getting your house nice and toasty warm ready for Christmas when the family are around.

That is exactly the moment we were capturing when this photo was taken, a beautiful snapshot of a couple navigating their tablet computer for the perfect radiator from Soak.com. It’s heartwarming.

We’ve had an exciting time over the last few months bringing mannequins to life for Peacocks 2018 Christmas TV advert. Of course there are many ways to do this ranging from extravagant webs of fishing wire puppeteering to body painted actors and ancient Egyptian spells (watch the film!)

We opted for the path less trodden and used clever computer animation techniques to make them come to life and cause havoc in store. Give the ad a watch and send us a postcard with all the dances you recognise listed. The first person to get all of them right will get a shoutout in a future news story.

If like us you’ve held a mobile phone (who knows, you might even be reading this on your mobile right now!) you may have thought you were doing a sterling job of restraining it’s sleek body between your digits whilst sliding your thumb or index finger across the screen.

Well I’m afraid it’s humility time, you’re probably not doing as good a job as you thought, at least that’s what we discovered when a hand model and expert smartphone navigation actor graced the ABF offices to give us a few pointers as well as nailing her performance for our Mercari ad.

Our makeup artist Leanne had her work cut out and raised a few eyebrows when she laid the foundation with mascara, blusher and eye liner for our Laithwaite’s Wine shoot. Whenever there were low tones she’d give us the highlights and she was an absolute pro at putting Boots on crows feet (obviously not on this actress though!), she wasn’t winging it.

We raise a glass of well selected wine from Laithwaite’s wine to the occasionally unsung hero of TV advertising. Nice work Leanne!

The Oscars, Annies, Palm D’Ors and Golden Globes of the world don’t hold a candle to the most coveted of awards, the solid glass Prolific North Award. To be nominated for a Prono is like owning the rosette winning marrow at a town fayre after winning the raffle hamper.

So it was an incredibly special moment for us to be nominated for “Best TV Advert” with the Elephant In the Room ad that we made for Soak.com, the advert was a landslide winner in our minds but the judging panel selected differently leaving us with a bitter taste in our mouthes. We did end dinner with tart au citron I guess…

If you’ve ever been to a hotel (we have) then you’ll know that every bedroom has it’s own bathroom; often with sinks and showers styled to compliment the decor of the room whether it be modern and matte or classic and golden.

We took some of these very personal, bulb glowing synaptic moments of inspiration and deconstructed exactly what it is about hotel bathrooms that make them so memorable, other than the often unobserved creative process of folding the end piece of a toilet roll into a triangle.

You’ve probably heard the phrase “Not a dry eye in the house”, it’s normally reserved for poignant or emotionally evocative moments in film and theatre but it was certainly an apt statement for the filming of “Glorious” for Soak.com when we filmed the shower scene accompanied by the lyrics to the song with the same name by Andreas Johnson.

The song was prophetically written about the casting process for the above mentioned scene “She’s bringing me in, Checking me out,┬áMaking me Glorious”. Magical stuff.

The ad hasn’t even aired yet and it’s already had over 50,000 views online and is getting kind words from all kinds of places. People are saying things like…

“Peacocks may have won the battle for the best Christmas advert on the telly this year – as long as you’re a Honey G fan.” – The Sun

“Can we just forget the John Lewis and other big budget Christmas ads, my favourite Christmas ad of the season is Peacocks. It’s the best Christmas ad I’ve ever seen.” – Dan Wooton on Lorraine

Keep your eyes on your telly box from Tuesday 14th November or go on Google, you won’t want to miss it!

Life Hack is nothing to do with dystopian futures or Russian cyber-terror – it’s the title of our latest set of ads for Soak.com.

In these ads, three people tell stories of how their Soak bathroom helps them escape from egg butties, sweaty armpits and smelly commuters. At ABF we life hack by taking a bath in our clothes, each to their own.

If you think RNCM sounds like an educational institution then you’d be right, it is.

We took our best brass to film some student stories at the Royal National College of Music which was music to their ears. Would rain be a problem? Would snow? Woodwind? Not even slightly, we orchestrated the shoot so well nobody missed a beat and conducted ourselves professionally, striking a chord with the students.

Joining the ABF roster is iMessage Sticker phenomenon Brad Brown (Brad to you) who brings new design / illustration / animation skills to the team and is the brain-child behind Sausages, Eggs and Bacon stickers in the iMessage App Store. What a legend!

Superstar 3D uber geek Jon Macdonald (JMac to you) has also joined the ABF crew and brings mad Arch Viz skill with him as well as a hunger for chicken and protein pancakes. Check out Jon’s work in some of our Soak Bathroom ads.

It’s not often we get to work with someone famous, so when Georgia Kousoulou (off of TOWIE) agreed to work with celebrity director Matt Barraclough we knew it was going to be something special.

Having a famous face on set helped Georgia get the most from her performance and has helped make Everything5Pounds a household name.

It’s Easy to lace these news stories with tongue in cheek puns and innuendo but this shoot we did for Go Outdoors deserves a bit more sole with good descriptions to boot.

We had to pull our sock up and put one foot in front of the other to make sure these videos didn’t (flip) flop. Bringing these products to life in these online videos is what dreams are made of with fun to toe.

…and think of bathrooms

The days of planning a trip with the family to splash out on a new bathroom are gone, with apps and mobile sites all you need is a few taps and you’ve got yourself…a few taps.

In this plug for our series of ads for Soak.com we see see how the connections we have on social media can make buying a bathroom a shared experience. If you like it, please shower us with praise.

Os ydych yn byw yng Nghaerfyrddin, yna rydych mewn ar gyfer trin, Dyddiau wedi lansio ei fod yn siop adrannol gyntaf yno ac mae’n llawn o frandiau byddwch yn gwybod a chariad.

If you live in Carmarthen then you’re in for a treat, Days has launched it’s first department store there and it’s full of brands you’ll know and love.

After seeing success with our Thinking Caps sticker pack for iMessage it didn’t take long for Wigan Warriors, Castleford Tigers and Hull KR to get on board and we quickly had sticker packs created for them.

The stickers are still performing great with all 3 rugby clubs taking the #1 spot in both the “Top Paid” and “Top Grossing” categories on the front page of the AppStore.

A high point for us so far was this February when two of our sticker packs (Hull KR and Castleford Tigers) took the top 2 places.

If you want your brand to dominate the AppStore give us a shout!

When our latest client ‘Choose My Agent’ gave us their brief we thought we’d branch out and go all out(doors) for a shoot in the woods. Our estate agent hunting homesellers decided to leaf the comfort of their home and go looking in nature with their binoculars.

The ad will be winging it’s way online and we’ll tweet about it too, if anyone asks, a little bird told you.

Once again, schools from around the UK compete in the Danone Nations cup for the chance to play in Paris!

This year the Nations Cup took place at the ground of Premier League champions Leicester City. Our goal was to net some shots of the kids playing great football from off-side of the pitch. We couldn’t pass on the opportunity to corner football legend John Scales for an interview at half time to hear about how the Nations Cup kicked off. The ABF team were kitted out to tackle any problem and came out winners. Catch the highlights soon on this very website.

Business Development Manager and supermum Nicole Clowes has joined the ABF Pictures team and has hit the ground running.

In her new role Nicole will show businesses how a journey into the exciting world of TV advertising and online content with ABF can help their brand growth. Exciting stuff, and as if that’s not enough – she’s a talented singer which will be music to your ears.
